Harvest carnival is today
Toppenish Calvary Bible Church is hosting a free harvest carnival today.
Lunch will be served. And there will also be prizes and games based on biblical themes, such as the "Walking on Water Cake Walk," "Fishers of Men Fish Pond" and "Goliath Bean Bag Toss."
Children are invited to dress up as their favorite Bible characters.
The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. at the church, 105 Goldendale Ave.

'Express Program' seeks help
Catholic Family and Child Service is sponsoring its annual "Christmas Express Program."
The program assists local families who are in need and involved with one or more programs at the agency, part of the Diocese of Yakima.
The program traditionally serves 50 to 60 families each holiday season with toys, clothing and household items.

Turkey dinner is Sunday
It's turkey time!
Wapato's Community Presbyterian Church is hosting its 74th annual turkey dinner Sunday.
The banquet runs from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. at the church, 502 S. Satus Ave.
The cost is $9 for adults and $6 for children 10 and younger. Takeout meals are available for an additional 50 cents.
About 200 volunteers -- from turkey basters and table servers and dishwashers -- put on the event, which feeds about 1,000 people every year.

Veterans service is Sunday ...
Veterans and their families are invited to attend a special worship service Sunday morning.
The service, in honor of Veterans Day, takes place at 9:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 1207 S. Seventh Ave. Veterans will be recognized during the service. A booklet giving brief biographies of the church's veterans will be distributed.

... And there's one in Selah, too
A special Veterans Day service, honoring local veterans and active members of the military, will be Sunday at Bible Baptist Church of Selah.
The service begins at 11 a.m. with a dinner to follow. All military members and veterans are invited to attend.
Bible Baptist Church is 2 1/2 miles north of Selah High School off Selah Loop road at 20 Tibbling Road.

Zillah also hosts vets' services
Zillah churches invite everyone to a special Veterans Day service Sunday night.
Veterans and those who are currently serving in the military will be honored. The service takes place at 6 p.m. at the Zillah Nazarene Church at 203 Miles Drive in Zillah.

Christmas bazaar is today
Sunnyside's Holy Trinity Episcopal Church is holding its Holiday Treasures Christmas Bazaar today.
Coffee and cinnamon rolls will be served while those attending shop for baked goods, jams, jellies, pickles, pies, breads, wreaths, crafts, baby items and other stocking stuffers. A quilt and gift baskets will be raffled.
Prosser's St. Matthew's Episcopal Church will also have items for sale at the event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Sunnyside church, 327 E. Edison Ave.
Lunch will be offered from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The festivities continue at 5:30 p.m. with an Italian dinner.

Vineyard events coming up
Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Yakima invites everyone to a couple of upcoming events.
* A conference -- "A Balanced View of Spiritual Gifts" -- takes place at the church Thursday through next Saturday. Tom Chism, senior pastor at the Reno Vineyard Church in Nevada, will be the guest speaker. Joedy Zapara, from the Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Sacramento, will lead worship.
The conference will also feature a children's program for those ages 2 to 10 years old for a minimal cost.
* The church is also presenting a night of worship with Joedy Zapara.
Worship takes place from 7 to 9 p.m. next Saturday. A freewill offering will be taken.
Both events take place at Vineyard Christian Fellowship of Yakima, 221 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. For more information, call the church at 453-2343.
Spaghetti fundraiser slated
The Youth Group of Tree of Life Lutheran Church in Terrace Heights invites everyone to a spaghetti dinner Friday night.
The benefit will help the teens raise funds for their trip to the National Youth Gathering in New Orleans. Spaghetti will be served, along with salad and bread, at 6 p.m. at the church, 410 N. 37th St. Dinner costs $6.
