Jacobsen -- 60 Years

Jacob "Ed" and Helen Jacobsen of Yakima will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family picnic in August. The event will be hosted by their children.

Jacob Jacobsen and Helen Thormahlen were married July 23, 1948, in Chehalis, Wash. They have lived in the area 50 years.

Mr. Jacobsen is a retired operating engineer. Mrs. Jacobsen retired from the Yakima School District.

The couple has three children, Dennis Jacobsen of Vancouver, Wash., Frank Jacobsen of Buckley, Wash., and Sandy Schneider of Yakima. They also have six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

 

Fisk -- 50 Years

Bud and Barbara Fisk of Tieton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary June 28 with a reception at West Valley Church of the Nazarene. The event was hosted by their children.

Bud Fisk and Barbara Wood were married June 7, 1958, at Wiley Heights Covenant Church. They have lived in the area 41 years.

Mr. Fisk retired as a forester from Boise Cascade Corp. after 32 years and from spotted owl research after 13. Mrs. Fisk retired as a school teacher from West Side Christian School after 14 years.

The couple has three children, Brenda Lou Williamson of Graham, Wash., Byron Wood Fisk of McConnells, S.C., and Belinda Lea Wilkinson of Yakima. They also have eight grandchildren.

 

Lunyou -- 50 Years

Raymon and Rhea Lunyou of Zillah will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 26 during an open house. The event will be hosted by Gary and Taryn Lunyou.

Raymon Lunyou and Rhea Dewhirst were married July 25, 1958, in Prosser. They have lived in Zillah 50 years.

Mr. Lunyou is a retired welder with the Caterpillar Inc. dealership in Yakima. Mrs. Lunyou retired from Seattle-First National Bank (now Bank of America).

The couple has one son, Gary Lunyou of Zillah. They also have five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

 

Griffin -- 50 Years

Cliff and Nadine Griffin of Yakima will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary July 26 with a reception at the Quality Inn, Ellensburg. The event will be hosted by their children.

Cliff and Nadine Griffin were married July 26, 1958, at the Thorp Church of Christ. The couple has lived in Yakima three different times and are now permanent Yakima residents.

Mr. Griffin worked for Montgomery Wards and was transferred throughout the Pacific Northwest and Alaska.

The couple has four children, Joe Griffin of Selah, Rebecca Gilbert of Port Orchard, Wash., Nathan Griffin of Yakima and Scott Griffin of Ellensburg. They also have seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

 

Pilgrim -- 35 Years

Leo Jr. and Kathleen Pilgrim of Yakima will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary July 21.

Leo Pilgrim and Kathleen Coyle were married July 21, 1973, in Yakima. They have lived in the area 40 years.

Mr. Pilgrim is employed with Seneca Foods. Mrs. Pilgrim is a community libraries specialist.

The couple has two daughters, Heather Cooley and Tracie Wachter, both of Yakima. They also have four grandchildren.

 

Blythe -- 45 Years

Larry and Jacklyn "Jackie" Blythe will celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary today with an open house followed by a family dinner. The event will be hosted by their three children and their families.

Larry Blythe and Jacklyn Nelson were married July 20, 1963, in the Naches Presbyterian Church. They have lived in the Valley 40 years.

Mr. Blythe retired from the U.S. Postal Service in Wapato. Mrs. Blythe retired from the Wapato School District.

The couple has three children, Jeff of Zillah, Scott of Oregon City, Ore., and Jennifer of Gainsville, Fla. They also have four grandchildren.

 

Covell -- 40 Years

Dennis and Barbara Covell of Yakima will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary during a dinner at Zesta Cucina with extended family. The event will be hosted by their children. They also plan to celebrate with a cruise vacation.

Dennis Covell and Barbara Lawson were married July 25, 1968, in Yakima. They have lived in the area more than 28 years.

Mr. Covell retired from the city of Yakima and now works at Gray & Osborne Inc. Mrs. Covell is a transcriptionist at Yakima Valley Memorial Hospital.

The couple has four children, Diane Covell of Yakima, Terri Mendez of Mead, Wash., Mary Hult of Spokane and Allan Covell of Selah. They also have 10 grandchildren.

 

Cooley -- 35 Years

Ernest and Sharon Cooley of Selah will celebrate their 35th wedding anniversary July 22.

Ernest Cooley and Sharon Mudd were married July 22, 1973, in Ellensburg. They have lived in the area 37 years.

Mr. Cooley is retired. Mrs. Cooley is a teacher at Selah Intermediate School.

The couple has two sons, Todd Cooley of Yakima and Jeff Cooley of Selah. They also have two grandchildren.

 

Karr -- 30 Years

Samuel A. and Deborah D. Karr of Yakima will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary with a trip to the Oregon coast.

Samuel A. Karr and Deborah D. Chase were married July 24, 1978, in Yakima. They have lived in the area 50 years.

Mr. Karr is a broker/owner at 1st American Realty. Mrs. Karr is a vehicle license agent.

The couple has two children, Jessica Zahler of West Richland and Vicki Karr of Yakima. They also have six grandchildren.

Vangstad -- 30 Years

Curt and Lana Vangstad of Zillah will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary with a trip to the Oregon coast.

Curt Vangstad and Lana Nicholas were married July 22, 1978, in Vashon Island, Wash. They have lived in the area 27 years.

Mr. Vangstad retired from Pacific Power. Mrs. Vangstad retired after teaching 19 years in the Zillah School District.

The couple has three daughters, Lisa Vangstad and Megan Vangstad, both of Seattle, and Amy Vangstad of Zillah.

 

Floyd -- 25 Years

David and Vickie Floyd of Selah will celebrate their 25th wedding anniversary with a trip to Cancun, Mexico, at a later date.

David Floyd and Vickie Siekawitch were married July 25, 1983, at the Yakima Courthouse. They are lifelong area residents.

Mr. Floyd is employed with Fluor Hanford. Mrs. Floyd is an accountant with the Boy Scouts of America Council.

The couple has two children, Greg Buchanan of Everett, Wash., and Jennifer Floyd of Selah. They also have one grandchild.

 

 

Glaspey -- 25 Years

Dale and Merrilee Glaspey of Union Gap celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary with a vacation in Depoe Bay, Ore.

Dale Glaspey and Merrilee Chase were married July 16, 1983, in Yakima. They are lifelong area residents.

Mr. Glaspey is employed with Edwards Manufacturing. Mrs. Glaspey is employed with Whirpool.

The couple has two children, Devon Balmer of Mount Vernon, Wash. and Jacob Glaspey of Vancouver, Wash. They also have two grandchildren.
